Japanese Patents-Invention Patents

1) Documents required for Japanese patent application: specification and schema (English version can be sent, Japanese translation can be supplemented within 2 months); Letter of appointment (can be supplemented later);

2) If a Japanese licensed patent applies for priority, it is necessary to provide:

-An application for the right of priority filed within 12 months from the date of filing of the first application in another country;

-- It is required to claim at the time of application that the priority certification could have been submitted to the Japanese government within 16 months from the priority date;

-- Domestic priority is claimed within 12 months from the date of filing of the previous case, and the previous case must be waived.

3), Japanese patent examination procedures:

-- Review system;

-the patent application is made public 18 months after the filing date (priority date);

-Requesting entity review within 3 years from the filing date (or priority date).

4), Japan licensed patent patent maintenance fee:

The annual fee for the first 1-3 years shall be paid before registration and shall be paid year by year starting from the fourth year before the registration date.

5) Term of Japanese Licensed Patent: 20 years from the date of application.
